"Savn"

"Savn" (or longing, in English) was a performance that took place the 2nd of May 2024 in Rome. Through the performance Alvi Östgård dives into the romantic yet lonely landscape of missing her sisters. It marries the free happiness of childlike play and innocence with the lack of care one experiences when it is taken away.

In the projections the sisters throw paint at each other, colouring their attire and snow. The paint represents what traces remain of each other when parted. The night gowns therefore hint at innocence and absence, yet also at a nightly routine that is engrained in Nordic styled parenting and sisterhood. Sisters braiding each others' hair. Parents lulling their children to sleep. Both are seen in many homes and was an important part of Alvi's childhood.

In this spacial performance Alvi is sitting in her coloured gown, braiding her hair endlessly whilst singing a Nordic lullaby.
